Supplemental Education
Schools are an incredibly important part of children’s education, but they often lack the resources to focus on everything. Public schools may score higher in math and reading but lack hands-on science, quality history, language, and emotional learning. Private schools may flip this and work better in science, history, language, and SEL but lack strong math and reading. To be the most successful, students need a well-rounded education and schools just don’t have the resources or time to provide this. Luckily, at Cornerstone Knowledge, we work with your child’s curriculum to fill in the gaps.
Cornerstone Knowledge believes supplemental education tutoring can round out your child’s current education and help them succeed in later life. While we offer many educational classes, our tutoring is a one-on-one personalized experience to educate your child on the things you find important. We also offer supplemental education tutoring for adults who want to expand their abilities, advance in their careers, or learn how to help their children through school. We provide tutoring in many topics and skills because we want our students to not just get good grades but excel at life, long past our time with them. With supplemental tutoring, we use experiments, sensory play, hands-on manipulatives, games, and more to teach critical thinking, problem-solving, study skills, and thinking outside of the box.
What is Supplemental Education?
Chinese
Mandarin Chinese is spoken by over 1 billion people. That’s one in six people that speak Mandarin. Businesses and jobs are in higher demand than ever for bilingual workers. Learning another language also improves critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, memory, and spatial skills. We use books, games, hands-on activities, and crafts to teach basic mandarin to kindergarten and higher. Our favorite method is our create-your-own Chinese books where children learn words while also being creative.
Technology
Technology is integral for our world. People are expected to have advanced levels of technology skills at earlier and earlier ages. While simple tech skills seem to be something they quickly learn, this still leaves more advanced skills untouched. With our supplemental tutoring, your child can learn website design, basic HTML coding, video editing, Excel skills, and more. We use technology and computers for most of this, but some learning is done hands-on through activities and games.
Creative Writing
Creative writing is not just about telling stories; it’s about understanding people, thinking in new and different directions, and becoming a better writer. Many kids are interested in stories or writing but have no idea where to start. With creative writing, we work with students as young as first grade to practice creative thinking, building a plot, sentence structure, handwriting, and more. Not only will kids come through writing interesting stories, but they will have better critical thinking and problem-solving skills too.
Arts and Crafts
While many people do not understand the importance of arts and crafts, at Cornerstone Knowledge, we recognize how arts and crafts help to develop young minds and teach skills in a new way. Art is a way to teach coordination and fine motor skills while also improving problem-solving, productivity, and even teaching emotional regulation. We find it amazing what arts and crafts can teach. Crocheting teaches skip counting and multiplication. Origami teaches concentration and spatial awareness. Painting and drawing teach kids ways to express themselves. Our supplemental arts and crafts can help your kids gain the life skills they need to succeed.
Science
Science is taught in schools, but many schools do not have the resources to make science the priority it deserves to be. At Cornerstone Knowledge, we pride ourselves on our supplemental science tutoring. We use fun experiments while teaching kids how to be proper scientists, think critically, make hypotheses, record their results, and more. We work with kids as young as preschool to take complicated topics like chemistry and density and break them down into something kids understand. We teach students biology, chemistry, astronomy, physics, and all other topics in the science sphere to improve logical and critical thinking, problem-solving, and organization skills.
History
History is another topic that many schools do not have the resources to teach properly. Teachers have strict curriculums or lack the time to find or create materials for important lessons. At Cornerstone Knowledge, we know that learning history helps us to understand the world we live in. It teaches kids empathy, research skills, and about their own identity. We dive deep into historical resources to find figures our students can relate to. We teach them about people different from them as well and how both types of people changed the world. We strive to include figures often unfairly written out of history or not often taught to make sure our students get a well-rounded historical education.

1-2 Sessions Per Week
$50
This is our standard session price for one hour. Our custom times are pro-rated. For example, a 30-minute session is only $25. Scroll down to see what’s included in this price.
3+ Sessions Per Week
$45
If you schedule three or more sessions a week, we reduce the price per session to $45 per hour. This includes our custom time which is pro-rated based on the discounted price.
Virtual Sessions
$40
Our virtual tutoring session is at a discounted rate, but the value is the same as our in-person tutoring. We only offer hour sessions with virtual tutoring. This is a great money-saving option.
First Sessions Are Always 50% Off
At Cornerstone Knowledge, we know that finding the right tutor isn’t always easy. That’s why our initial sessions are always 50% off no matter what with no commitment to future sessions.
Looking for a further discount? We give away free first-session coupons to all of our current clients. If you know one of our clients, chances are they can help you out. We also do social media giveaways if you follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
What happens at the first session? Our first session is a trial to make sure we are a good fit for your student. In this session, we spend some time building rapport with your child and assessing their current skillset. Once you decide to continue tutoring, we use that information to develop a personalized tutoring plan that uses the child’s interests to repair their foundational knowledge.
