Driving Fees

Because of increasing gas prices, we have increased our driving fees. Driving fees will be paid to Cornerstone Knowledge but will go directly to the tutor. This covers not only the cost of driving but also compensates for some of their driving time. Your driving fee will be calculated based on the distance we must drive from our closest office location to the place of tutoring. Our current location is 375 Central Ave Coos Bay, OR 97420. The driving fees are below.

2-4 miles: $5

4-7 miles: $8

7-10 miles: $11

10-15 miles: $15

15-20 miles: $22

25-30 miles: $34

Protection of Our Students

To protect our students, all of our tutors go through a background check before hiring. We also take further measures to ensure the safety of our students and our tutors.

To protect our students, no tutor is allowed to transport students in any vehicle. While this may add inconvenience, this protects both students and our tutors.

To protect our students, any minor that is a student must have a trusted adult in the home or private location when tutoring. If a client feels that the tutor qualifies as a trusted adult after several sessions together, then the client may sign a waiver identifying the tutor as a trusted adult. A trusted adult is not required in our office or in public locations.

Switching Tutors

As our company grows and expands, we may have new tutors shadowing your current tutor and student. On some occasions, we may want the new tutor to take over the student. Before that would ever occur, you would meet the potential tutor, approve of the tutor, have your student approve of the tutor, and have at least two transition sessions between the old tutor and the new tutor. We will never switch tutors on you without your approval, except in cases where the previous tutor is leaving our company. In that case, we will make sure to find a new tutor you will be happy with.

Occasionally, our tutors may get sick, have personal emergencies, or have other obligations that keep them from tutoring. If your tutor cannot make a session, we will update you as soon as possible. You should have two options: cancel the session until the next session or have a substitute tutor come and do the session.

Cancellation Policy

We understand that things happen in life that may interfere with tutoring. Students get sick, family comes into town, and emergencies happen. Included in the tutoring contract that you signed is our cancellation policy for when you do need to cancel. We require you to cancel at least 24 hours before your session. If you cancel with less than 24-hour notice, then you will be charged 50% of the session. If you cancel with less than an hour’s notice, we will charge you the full amount of your session. This is because our tutors may be already preparing or on their way to the session and we still pay our tutors the full hour for late cancellations or no-shows. Serious illness and emergencies will not be charged in either case.

To avoid cancellation fees, we will continue to send out text reminders more than 24 hours before your session. Each text reminder has a link that will allow you to confirm or cancel your session. We also recommend that you add the times and days to your calendar. We will do our best to keep the days and times of your sessions the same from week to week. You will also be able to avoid the cancellation fee by rescheduling your session within five business days of the cancellation or by doing an online Zoom session instead. Rescheduling your session will need to be on a separate day and time from your normal schedule. For example, if you tutor on Wednesdays at 4 pm, you cannot cancel and reschedule for next Wednesday at 4 pm, your normal time.

If our tutors need to cancel with less than 24 hours notice, we will offer you a substitute tutor, an online Zoom session, or a rescheduled session within 5 business days, depending on our availability or the reason for cancellation. If for some reason we cannot offer any of these, we will offer a refund for the session or for the session to roll over into the following invoice. You will not be charged for any cancellations from Cornerstone Knowledge.

Bundling Discount

Starting October 1st, 2022, we will be offering a discount of 10% to any client who bundles 5 or more sessions. This means they are purchasing 5 or more sessions ahead of time and will need to pay for all five sessions at the time of purchase. Bundling discounts will not apply to driving fees.

Payments

We try to offer our clients a variety of payment options to make paying for tutoring convenient. We accept cash, check, or card. We can also email you or text you an invoice you can pay online. We accept weekly payments, monthly payments, or bundle payments.

All payments must be made before the tutoring session occurs. If you pay through cash or check during your session, we ask that you pay for the following week’s sessions. If you pay through an online invoice, please pay within three days of your invoice or before your tutoring session, whichever comes first. If your invoice is late over 10 days, then a $10 late fee will be added. If you are late paying for your invoice more than three times, we will refuse to hold any tutoring sessions unless the invoice is paid before the tutoring session.
