STEM Tutoring
STEM tutoring includes science, technology, engineering, and math. Science and math are common areas for students to struggle. They often are missing key foundational knowledge that will allow them to continue learning. For example, a student struggling with Algebra may be missing the key concept of the equal sign and what it means. A student struggling in science may lack the foundational skill of studying.
Cornerstone Knowledge focuses on filling in these missing pieces. We rebuild a sturdier foundation so new learning can be accomplished. We also expand that learning to reach beyond what they will accomplish in school. We want our students to not only complete grade-level milestones but have the skills they need to succeed even after they graduate. In STEM tutoring, we use hands-on manipulatives, games, experiments, and more to teach critical thinking, study skills, number manipulation, and how to make STEM fun.
What Is STEM Tutoring?
Science
Science tutoring involves a focus on critical thinking, study skills, and the important grade-level knowledge they need. We also offer supplemental science tutoring as some schools are lacking in their science program. This tutoring includes scientific experiments, crafts, and teaching kids how to ask scientific questions and break down difficult concepts.
Technology
Technology skills are becoming necessary to succeed in life. Most kids pick up technology by themselves. However, some need extra teaching in computer skills, typing, navigating technology, or organizing their files. We also offer supplemental technology tutoring where kids can learn skills like website design with some basic HTML coding.
Engineering
While most schools aren’t teaching engineering, at Cornerstone Knowledge, we believe engineering is an important skill for students to have. Engineering teaches innovative thinking, problem-solving, and fine motor skills. We offer this as supplemental tutoring where kids learn how to invent, create, and design anything their brains imagine. We also do engineering challenges on social media that any child can participate in.
Math
Math is one of the most difficult subjects for students. Typically this is either because the method that is taught does not work for the child or because they are missing key skills like number manipulation. We use hands-on manipulatives, games, and occasional worksheets to build those skills while we show the child several methods of using math. We also teach them how to break down difficult problems and tackle confusing homework.
Pricing Plans
1-2 Sessions Per Week
$50
This is our standard session price for one hour. Our custom times are pro-rated. For example, a 30-minute session is only $25. Scroll down to see what’s included in this price.
3+ Sessions Per Week
$45
If you schedule three or more sessions a week, we reduce the price per session to $45 per hour. This includes our custom time which is pro-rated based on the discounted price.
Virtual Sessions
$40
Our virtual tutoring session is at a discounted rate, but the value is the same as our in-person tutoring. We only offer hour sessions with virtual tutoring. This is a great money-saving option.

What happens at the first session? Our first session is a trial to make sure we are a good fit for your student. In this session, we spend some time building rapport with your child and assessing their current skillset. Once you decide to continue tutoring, we use that information to develop a personalized tutoring plan that uses the child’s interests to repair their foundational knowledge.
